Schloss Orth

Orth Castle has guarded the banks of the river Danube for centuries. The international waterway branches out across the continent. The vastness and furcation of the river, branching out in various directions was the inspiration behind this renovation project. The new access bridge invites the visitor to journey along the twists and turns and leads to the main entrance. Light illuminates the inner courtyard and encourages the visitor to explore along the ramps and raised platforms, constructed from blasted, stone providing interesting views of the medieval fortress. Fine pebbles, reclaimed form the Danube, dress the courtyard arena. Continuity is added to the design with the same material continuing in the interior with a high polished effect.
