Museumszentrum Niedersulz

Museum Center Niedersulz - A new visitor centre, in a famous Austrian wine-making region, was the challenge for our architects in this competition. The vision and dedication of one man quite literally single handedly built this project from bottom up. The collection of buildings were salvaged and saved from dereliction. Transported and rebuilt to capture the unique history of the region for a one off visitor attraction celebrating traditional local crafts.  Over the past few decades new buildings have been added on an add hoc basis resulting in the current sporadic layout with interesting free plots between the infrastructure. The elevated position, located on a sloping hillside, added an interesting element to the planning of the new visitor centre. The prerequisite of the new build meant the existing developments and the provision of space for the village to grow further formed an important part of the project.
